Neve vs Neve FSE - Which One Should You Choose?
Neve and Neve FSE are two separate WordPress themes with similar names, different editing systems, and different premium products. This guide explains how they differ and how to pick the one that fits your website.
❗ Important: Neve FSE is not a newer version or an upgrade of Neve. They are two separate themes. Neve Pro is the premium addon for Neve only, and it does not work when Neve FSE is the active theme.

Neve and Neve FSE are separate themes
The names are similar, so it helps to separate the four products before comparing anything else:
- Neve — A classic WordPress theme. You customize it in the WordPress Customizer, under Appearance > Customize.
- Neve Pro — The premium addon for Neve. It adds extra modules and options to Neve's existing Customizer. It requires the Neve theme to be active.
- Neve FSE — A separate block theme. You customize it in the WordPress Site Editor, under Appearance > Editor.
- FSE Design Pack — A premium plugin that adds ready-made layout patterns to Themeisle block themes, including Neve FSE. It is not a version of Neve Pro and does not contain the same features.
⚠️ Important: If you buy Neve Pro and then activate Neve FSE, Neve Pro stops working and shows a notice asking you to activate the Neve theme. Decide which theme you want before you buy a premium product.

Which one to choose
Both themes are built for business websites, blogs, and portfolios, so the type of site you are building rarely decides the answer. A company website with articles and examples of completed work can be built well with either theme. Base your decision on the premium features you need and the editing interface you prefer.
Choose Neve if
- You want any Neve Pro feature. This is the strongest reason to pick Neve, because Neve Pro only runs on the Neve theme.
- You prefer building the header and footer with a drag-and-drop builder.
- You want to import a complete Starter Site as a starting point instead of assembling pages yourself.
- You plan to build pages with a page builder such as Elementor.
- You want the Customizer as your main settings screen, with the option to enable block templates later.
Choose Neve FSE if
- You want the WordPress Site Editor as the only editing interface, for every template and template part.
- You prefer style variations for switching the site's colors and fonts in one step.
- You want to build pages and templates from blocks and patterns, without a page builder.
- You do not need Neve Pro features.
Before switching an existing Neve site
Switching from Neve to Neve FSE is a theme change, not an upgrade, so plan for rebuilding work:
- Neve FSE tries to carry over Neve's predefined global colors and some typography and button settings. Do not expect the rest of your customization to transfer.
- Header and footer layouts built in Neve's Header/Footer Builder do not transfer. You rebuild them as template parts.
- Any Neve Pro functionality stops working, because Neve Pro requires the Neve theme.
