Migrating to latest version ​

Whether you're on an older release, there are many benefits to updating to the latest version:

  • Support for most recent WordPress and PHP versions
  • Future-proof Stripe integration with no deprecated functionality still being used
  • Many more payment options available for inline forms

Upgrading major versions can seem daunting, but for most users it's relatively easy. Below we've laid out a few different pathways to follow depending on what version you're on and where (direct, wordpress.org, Code Canyon etc.) you first downloaded it.

Preparing for an upgrade ​

For any major upgrade—and often for minor upgrades too—you should always test out the new version on a copy or staging version of your existing site.

Using a copy that is not available to your customers will allow you to verify that everything still works as you expect it to, and to prepare any customization updates necessary, so that when it comes to updating your main site you know what to do and what to expect.

Patch releases primarily contain bug fixes and other small improvements that should not be harmful to a running site.

Upgrading from older releases ​

Regardless of where you got the plugin from, if you're upgrading from an older release, you should be prepared to create new forms. Popup-type forms are no longer supported, and products must be created in Stripe before they can be used in forms.

If you are still using an older WordPress.org release, it is no longer supported for direct in-place updates. Plan to do a complete reinstall and configuration.

Upgrading from Code Canyon versions ​

We no longer use Code Canyon as a license manager, and have moved everything over to direct checkout via our site. This is managed by a third party called Freemius. This doesn't mean that you can't receive updates, you just need to double check your version and potentially reinstall the plugin. Upgrading Freemius versions

With an active license ​

If you purchased the plugin directly from our website you have what we call a Freemius version. Freemius is a third party we use to manage payments and licensing. If you have an active license you will be prompted in your WordPress admin console when new versions are available, and you can normally upgrade directly from the "Installed plugins" screen.

If for some reason you are not notified of new versions, you can login to your Freemius account and download the latest version from there.

Without an active license ​

If you bought and downloaded the plugin directly from our website but no longer have an active license you will not receive prompts to upgrade. You can still upgrade to the latest version in this situation.

You have two options:

  1. Contact support and ask for the latest Freemius version. We will respond with a link where you can download the latest version
  2. Switch to get your plugin and updates from WordPress.org
    1. Deactivate and delete the existing plugin
    2. Go to Plugins-Add New Plugin and search by Author for Themeisle . Alternatively use this /wp-admin/plugin-install.php?s=themeisle&tab=search&type=author to get to the right results
    3. click "Install Now" on "WP Full Pay"
    4. Activate your plugin

Current releases are configured to ensure you can get new versions without having to contact support each time.

Upgrading WordPress.org versions ​

In most cases you should be prompted to upgrade via the "Installed Plugins" page in your WordPress admin console. If that is not the case, the latest version can be downloaded from https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-full-stripe-free/.

License or no license? ​

Whether to buy a license or not is up to you; the plugin works the same on current releases, regardless of where you download it from.

With an active license you get:

  • Access to email support
  • Access to future upgrades
  • No application fee

Without an active license you get:

  • Access to future upgrades
  • 1.9% application fee, in addition to your Stripe fee

We are finding that the license-free option is most used and appreciated by users that process infrequent, lower dollar transactions. Users that have higher volume, higher dollar processing needs benefit from purchasing a license.
