LMSCourse FSE - Settings Reference

LMSCourse FSE is a lightweight, block-based WordPress theme designed for online courses, coaching sites, and digital schools, with full compatibility with LMS plugins such as Masteriyo, LearnDash, Tutor LMS, and LifterLMS. All settings are managed through the WordPress Site Editor (Appearance > Editor), where you can customize Global Styles, edit templates and template parts, insert block patterns, and configure navigation.

Site Editor — Global Styles

Global Styles controls the overall visual appearance of the site. Open it by clicking the Styles icon (half-filled circle) in the Site Editor sidebar. Changes here apply site-wide unless overridden at the block level.

Colors

The theme defines seven palette colors. Each color references a CSS custom property with a fallback value, which means sites migrating from the Neve theme can inherit their existing color settings automatically.

  • Background: The main site background color. Default is white (#FFFFFF).
  • Foreground: The primary text and content color. Default is a deep green-black (#192622).
  • Accent: The primary highlight color used for buttons, links, and interactive elements. Default is a muted teal-green (#388A77).
  • Accent Secondary: A secondary accent color for hover states and supporting elements. Default is a slightly lighter teal (#449B87).
  • Background Dark: A dark background used for the header, footer, page title banners, and inverted sections. Default is a deep dark green (#192D28).
  • Background Alt: A light alternative background used for cards, comment areas, and subtle section differentiation. Default is a warm off-white (#F9F8F8).
  • Foreground Alt: A light text color used on dark backgrounds, such as in the header, footer, and hero sections. Default is white (#FFFFFF).

The theme enables link color controls. Gradients are disabled by default.

Typography

The theme enables fluid typography, meaning font sizes scale smoothly between a minimum and maximum value based on the viewport width. All fonts are served locally from the theme's own files.

Eleven font families are available:

  • Inter (sans-serif) — A clean, versatile variable font. Weights 160-700.
  • Albert Sans (sans-serif) — A modern geometric sans-serif with regular and italic styles. Weights 300-900.
  • Fraunces (serif) — A distinctive soft serif with regular and italic styles. Weights 300-900. Used for headings in the Purple Rain variation.
  • Hanken Grotesk (sans-serif) — A warm, humanist sans-serif with regular and italic styles. Weights 300-900.
  • Outfit (sans-serif) — A geometric sans-serif. Weights 100-900. Used as the body and heading font in the Petrol Sky variation.
  • Spline Sans (sans-serif) — A clean, technical sans-serif. Weights 300-900. Used as the body and heading font in the Black Berry variation.
  • Playfair Display (serif) — An elegant display serif with regular and italic styles. Weights 300-900.
  • Source Sans Pro (sans-serif) — A reliable workhorse sans-serif with regular, italic, bold, and bold italic styles.
  • Montserrat (sans-serif) — A popular geometric sans-serif with regular and italic styles. Weights 300-900.
  • Open Sans (sans-serif) — A widely used humanist sans-serif with regular and italic styles. Weights 300-900.
  • Figtree (sans-serif) — A friendly, rounded sans-serif with regular and italic styles. Weights 300-900. The default body and heading font.

Six fluid font size presets are available. Each size scales responsively between its minimum and maximum value:

  • Small: 12px to 14px
  • Normal: 16px to 18px (the default body text size)
  • Medium: 20px to 24px
  • Large: 24px to 28px
  • Extra Large: 28px to 40px
  • Huge: 36px to 56px

Custom font sizes are enabled, so you can enter any value in addition to the presets. Line height controls are available on all text blocks.

The theme sets default heading styles:

  • H1 uses the Huge size with 700 weight and 1.25 line height
  • H2 uses Extra Large with 700 weight and 1.35 line height
  • H3 uses Large with 700 weight and 1.35 line height
  • H4 uses Medium with 700 weight and 1.4 line height
  • H5 uses Normal with 700 weight and 1.55 line height
  • H6 uses Small with 700 weight and 1.6 line height

The default body font uses Figtree at Normal size, 400 weight, and 1.7 line height. Headings also default to Figtree at 600 weight with 1.3 line height. Both the body and heading font families can be inherited from Neve theme settings when migrating from Neve to LMSCourse FSE.

Site Editor — Style Variations

Style variations change the color palette and typography in one click. The theme ships with three variations in addition to the default light style.

  • Black Berry: A dark theme with a charcoal background (#212121), white text (#FFFFFF), and a bold red accent (#DD4545) with a deeper red secondary accent (#C23131). Both body and heading fonts switch to Spline Sans with 700 weight headings. Creates a dramatic, high-energy look suited for modern and edgy course brands.

  • Petrol Sky: A dark theme with a very dark background (#151515), white text (#FFFFFF), and a vivid teal accent (#07979C) with a darker teal secondary (#077E82). Both body and heading fonts switch to Outfit with 600 weight headings. Produces a sleek, futuristic aesthetic ideal for technology and professional development courses.

  • Purple Rain: A light theme with a white background (#FFFFFF), near-black text (#141414), and a muted purple accent (#5F4E9C) with a deeper purple secondary (#4E3E85). The Background Dark color is a deep indigo (#2B2247). The body font switches to Albert Sans and headings switch to Fraunces (serif) with 600 weight. The serif headings paired with the sans-serif body create a sophisticated, academic feel perfect for educational institutions and premium course platforms.

Site Editor — Templates

Templates control the layout of specific page types. You can edit any template in the Site Editor to rearrange, add, or remove blocks. Changes are saved as user customizations and can be reverted to the theme default at any time.

  • Front Page: The homepage layout. Assembles ten patterns in sequence: a hero section, testimonials grid, course content sections, statistics, features, pricing, FAQs, and a call-to-action banner. The result is a complete landing page for an LMS or course website.

  • Index: The default blog listing page. Displays a dark banner with the heading "Our Blog," then a two-column grid of posts. Each post card shows a featured image (3:2 aspect ratio with 8px rounded corners), an uppercase date, a linked title, and an excerpt with a "Continue Reading" link in the accent color. Pagination controls appear below.

  • Single Post: The layout for individual blog posts. Shows a dark header area with the post category, title, and date, followed by the featured image (16:9 aspect ratio with 16px rounded corners). Below that comes the post content, then a comments section on an alt background, and finally a "Related posts" section on a dark background displaying a responsive grid of recent posts with featured images, dates, and titles.

  • Page: The layout for static pages. Displays a dark banner with the page title centered, then the page content in a constrained layout below.

  • Archive: Used for category, tag, author, and date archives. Shows a dark banner with the archive title, then a two-column grid of posts with featured images, dates, titles, and excerpts, with pagination.

  • Search: The search results page. Displays a dark banner with the heading "Search results" and a search input field (75% width), then a two-column grid of matching posts with the same card layout as the archive, with pagination.

  • 404: The page shown when a URL is not found. Uses the 404 Error Page pattern to display an error message and guide the user back to the site.

  • Blank: A minimal template that outputs only the post content with no header, footer, or wrapper. Use this for landing pages or page-builder layouts where you want full control over every element on the page.

  • Plain: A template that includes the header and footer but renders the page content in a full-width layout without a page title banner. Use this for pages where you want the standard header and footer but need full-width content without any title area.

Site Editor — Template Parts

Template parts are reusable sections shared across multiple templates. You can edit them in the Site Editor, and changes propagate everywhere the part is used.

Headers

  • Header: The default header. A single-row bar with a dark background (Background Dark). Contains the site logo (48px) and site title on the left, and a horizontal Navigation block on the right. The entire bar has compact 16px vertical padding for a clean, minimal look.

  • Header Variation - Subheader: A two-row header. The top row is a thin dark bar showing a phone number on the left and social media icons (X, Facebook, YouTube) on the right. The second row sits on the site background color and contains the site title (uppercase, Normal font) on the left and a Navigation block on the right. Use this variation when you want to display contact information or social links above the main navigation.

Footers

  • Footer: The default footer. A dark section with a three-column layout containing an address block, quick links, and a "Stay Connected" column with a newsletter call-to-action. Below the columns, a bottom bar shows the copyright text on the left and social media icons (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) on the right.

  • Footer Variation - Columns: A dark footer with a top border. Contains a site logo and description paragraph in the first column, followed by three link columns each with a heading and four placeholder links. A bottom bar shows the copyright on the left and a privacy policy link on the right.

  • Footer Variation - CTA: A dark footer that opens with a prominent accent-colored call-to-action banner featuring a heading and an "Enroll today!" button. Below the banner, three columns each contain a heading and descriptive text. A bottom bar shows the copyright on the left and social media icons on the right.

Site Editor — Navigation

Menus in LMSCourse FSE are managed as Navigation blocks inside the Site Editor, not through the classic Menus screen. The theme's templates include navigation areas in the header and footer.

  • Header navigation: A horizontal menu in the header template part, aligned to the right of the site logo and title. To edit, open the header template part in the Site Editor and click the Navigation block to add, remove, or reorder menu items. On mobile devices, this menu collapses into a responsive overlay.

  • Subheader navigation: When using the Header Variation - Subheader, the navigation appears in the second row below the contact/social bar, aligned to the right of the site title.

  • Footer links: The default footer contains placeholder text links organized under headings (Address, Quick Links, Stay Connected). These are paragraph blocks, not Navigation blocks, so you edit them directly as text and add links manually.

The theme also registers a Primary Menu menu location for backwards compatibility, though the Navigation blocks in the Site Editor are the primary way to manage menus.

Neve Migration Support

LMSCourse FSE includes built-in support for inheriting settings from the Neve theme. If the site was previously using Neve, the theme automatically reads Neve's saved color palette, font families, heading typography, and button appearance settings and applies them through CSS custom property fallbacks. This means sites migrating from Neve to LMSCourse FSE will retain their visual customizations without manual reconfiguration.
