Fix: Woody Code Snippets Pro License Activation Fails with "Invalid License Key" or 500 Error
This article covers how to resolve an "Invalid license key" or HTTP 500 error when activating Woody Code Snippets Pro, most commonly caused by running an add-on version older than 1.3.0 that predates the Themeisle store licensing system.
Activation fails with "Invalid license key" or a 500 error
If activation returns an Invalid license key message or an HTTP 500 error, the most common cause is that the installed Woody Code Snippets Pro add-on is older than version 1.3.0. Version 1.3.0 is where Woody Code Snippets Pro moved to the Themeisle store licensing system, so earlier versions cannot recognize a Themeisle store license key.
To check your version, go to Plugins and find the installed Woody Code Snippets Pro add-on. If it is older than 1.3.0, update it before retrying activation:
- If your license is already in your Themeisle store account: Download the latest version from your Purchase History, then go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin and upload the new .zip. When prompted, choose to replace the existing plugin. Once the update finishes, retry activation under Woody Snippets > Settings > License.
- If your account only offers version 1.2.0 (you have not migrated from Freemius yet): You must first complete the move from Freemius to the Themeisle store before you can download 1.3.0 or later. See Migrated from Freemius? and contact our support team for your migration link and new license key. After migrating, download the latest version from your Themeisle store account and retry activation.
📝 Note: On a multisite network where the plugin is network-activated, update the add-on from Network Admin > Plugins.
