Automatically Map All Posts Within a Category
Use this workflow to map all posts assigned to one selected category or custom taxonomy term to a domain. It does not map every term or term archive in the taxonomy.
Steps to Add a New Mapping:
- Choose the Taxonomy Term:
- In this example, we will choose Taxonomy term archive > Category > IT Services.
- Enable the Mapping Options:
- Check the options to Support pagination and Map internal all posts.
- Map internal all posts maps posts associated with the selected term; it does not generate URL mappings for all term archives in that taxonomy.
- Map the Domain to the Category:
- Add another mapping to assign a slug to the archive page on the mapped domain.
Now, both CotiStefan.site and CotiStefan.site/it-services will point to the posts within the IT Services category, which were originally available at https://stefancoti.com/category/it-services/.
Each independently addressable taxonomy term archive needs its own URL mapping. To add an individual archive mapping, follow Mapping a domain. For large taxonomies, developers can create these mappings in a one-off process using the PHP API, which documents add_mapping() with maps_to_term_archive().
By clicking on any post, the mapped URL is preserved, and you don’t need to manually map each post within this category.
