How domains are counted by our license checking system
Each separate WordPress installation where you activate our product counts as one license activation.
What counts as a separate activation
The following are always counted separately if they are different WordPress installs:
- Main domains (e.g.
example.com) - Subdomains (e.g.
blog.example.com,staging.example.com) - Subdirectories (e.g.
example.com/test-site) - Staging, development, or testing sites
Using the same license key on multiple sites is allowed only if your license includes enough activation slots.
Subdomains do not share the activation of the main domain.
WordPress Multisite
In a WordPress Multisite network, each sub-site where the product is activated counts as one activation, whether the network uses subdomains or subfolders.
A special multisite license key is not required—you only need enough activations for the number of sites.
Managing activations
If you reach your activation limit, you can deactivate the license on an unused site and reuse that activation elsewhere.
