Connecting Your Instagram Business Account
To display an Instagram feed with Social Slider Feed, you need to connect an Instagram Business or Instagram Creator account. Personal Instagram accounts are no longer supported due to changes in the Meta API.
⚠️ Important: If you previously used a Personal Instagram account with an older version of the plugin, that connection will no longer work. You must convert your Instagram account to a Business or Creator account and reconnect it.
Requirements
Before connecting your account, make sure you have:
- An Instagram Business or Instagram Creator account
- A Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account
- Admin access to the Facebook Page
If your Instagram account is currently a personal account, you can upgrade it for free through the Instagram app:
- Open Instagram and go to your profile.
- Tap the menu icon, then go to Settings and privacy > Account type and tools.
- Tap Switch to Professional Account and follow the prompts to set up a Business or Creator account.
- Link your Instagram account to a Facebook Page when prompted.
Connecting Your Account
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to Social Slider Feed > Profiles.
- Choose the social network you want to use — Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube — and click on its icon.
- A Facebook authorization window will open. Log in to your Facebook account if prompted.
- Select the Facebook Page linked to your Instagram Business account.
- Grant the requested permissions and click Done.
Your Instagram Business account is now connected and your feed will begin displaying posts.
📝 Note: The plugin connects to Instagram through the Facebook API. This is the only supported connection method. You must have a Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account to complete the connection.
Troubleshooting Connection Issues
The authorization window closes but no account is connected. Make sure you granted all the requested permissions during the Facebook authorization flow. Try disconnecting and reconnecting, and accept all permission requests.
My posts are not appearing after connecting. Confirm that your Instagram account is set to a Business or Creator account and that it is linked to the Facebook Page you selected. Personal accounts will not display posts.
I receive an error about expired token or reconnection required. Facebook access tokens expire periodically. Go to Social Slider Feed, open the affected feed, and click Reconnect to refresh the connection.
