What are the different functionalities that I can add to my Hestia Pro website using Toolset?

Beside adding custom content types (also known as Custom Post Types “CPT”) to your website, Toolset allows you to customize the CPTs that comes with your theme by adding custom fields and taxonomies. On top of that, you can create custom layouts for these CPTs. Additionally,  you can add custom search and filters, create front-end submission forms, display your content on Google maps,  design your own WooCommerce Shop page and customize your single product page, etc.

To illustrate the different functionalities that Toolset offers, we built a travel website where users can sign up and submit new content via front-end forms. Other visitors can search through this content. The search results are displayed on a Google map.

  1. Adding custom content to your website

We created the CPT “Tours” that has some custom fields (City, Max number of participants, Duration, Price, Address) and custom taxonomies (Family friendly, Food experience, Outdoor activities, etc.).

Our custom post type on the WordPress dashboard main navigation menu:

Our custom fields:

Our custom taxonomies:

On the front-end, each Tour will be using the same template but will display their own information:

How did we build the Tour page (template)?

To build such a template, you can use Toolset Layouts, a simple drag-and-drop editor which allows you to create your own design for pages, posts, custom post types and Archives. Below, you can see what our template looks like in the Toolset Layouts editor .

  1. Create an advanced custom search with filters and display your search results on the front-end (Toolset Views)

A custom search is handy on any website as it allows your visitors to use the advanced filters on a search form to narrow down the results. In our example, users can make use of filters like “Number of guests”, “City”, “Duration”, etc.

Using Toolset, you can create custom search forms to filter the custom post types that you created based on custom field values and custom taxonomies. No doubt, creating such a custom search using PHP is not easy. On the other hand, you can craft any custom search you can think of using Toolset in a breeze. The results can be displayed as a list, as a grid, on a slider or even on a map, you choose. In this example, we choose to add the custom search on a slider.

  1. Build front-end submission/editing forms (Toolset Forms)

The example travel website allows the user to submit travel/holiday destinations using a form on the front-end. Toolset helps you to automatically generate front-end forms. Based on the custom fields we created in out CPT “Tour” (Tour Name, Tour Description, City, Max number of participants, etc), Toolset Forms automatically a front-end form.

After the user submits the form, we can decide whether to publish the tour immediately or set it as a draft for you to review it and publish it later. Learn more about Toolset Forms.

  1. Role Management and Access control for your pages built with Hestia Pro(personal accounts, membership sites)

In case you want to restrict displaying holiday destinations to logged in users, you can do that using Toolset Access. Simply create a new custom role and assign the right access accordingly.

  1. Design your own WooCommerce Shop page and customize your single product page (Toolset WooCommerce Views)

Hestia Pro is WooCommerce-ready, allowing you to create your online shop in no time! Out of the box, WooCommerce is quite powerful.
