How to import or export MPG projects

Import/Export Functionality of MPG Plugin

MPG allows you to easily export your projects for backup or transfer purposes, and import them when needed. Below are the steps to help you with both export and import processes.

Exporting a Project

  • Go to the MPG Dashboard in your WordPress admin.
  • Find the project you want to export and click Export.
  • The export process will vary based on your project type:
    • If your project uses an external spreadsheet (like Google Sheets), a JSON file will be downloaded into your browser's Downloads folder.
    • If your project uses a physical CSV file stored on your server, a ZIP file (containing the CSV and JSON) will be downloaded.

📝 Note: Exporting a project does not remove it from MPG; it just creates a backup file.

Importing a Project

  • Click on the Import Projects button in the MPG Dashboard.
  • To import a JSON file (used by external spreadsheets), upload the file, and MPG will import the project.
  • For ZIP files:
    • First, extract the ZIP file on your computer.
    • Upload the JSON file via the Import interface.
    • Open the project from the MPG Dashboard.
    • Upload the CSV file to the project as you would with any project.

📝 Note: When importing a ZIP file, make sure to extract the contents and upload the JSON file first, followed by the physical CSV file upload when you edit the created project.

Additional Tips

  • If encountering issues, check file permissions on your server for both JSON and CSV files.
